Third Trimester

Third Trimester

We have officially reached our 3rd trimester! I can’t believe the first two flew by. I had my 28 week checkup today. Beck’s heartbeat was 150 bpm. We didn’t quite get around to my belly measurement because the doctor was in shock that when I am standing you can’t really see the true size of Beck. I laid back today for her to measure my belly and she couldn’t believe how much bigger my belly got while laying down. She said that I wasn’t fat…thank goodness:) I was just ALL BABY! She reminded Beck that he was going to have to get out of there somehow.

We are on the downhill side of things now. We start going to the doctor every 2 weeks now and in September, every week. We are also going back to the specialist in 5 weeks to check up on him from after being in the hospital and our last sonogram. They are watching the fluid around his kidneys. Most likely the first time he pees after he is delivered, the fluid will disappear. Other than that, Beck is growing and kicking just like he should. Our other baby has had a rough week this week. Maddie was chasing squirrels across the street and she broke her dew claw far down near her skin. We had to take her to the vet and have her sedated so that they could clip it off. She has a cute blue cast and is doing much better:) It was a good excuse for me to lay around all day yesterday with her to make sure she didn’t try to take the cast off. She is already looking forward to the next squirrel hunt:)

I also had my first baby shower this past weekend. I will do a separate post on that:)

Elizabeth 34 weeks, Lorie 27 weeks, Brooke 13 weeks ( My grandmother is going to have lots of babies running around her house!)

27 weeks and he is GROWING:)

27 weeks and he is GROWING:)

Today, Jesse and I had to go see the Maternal and Fetal Medicine doctor to check on Beck after our hospital visit last week.  One thing is for sure…he is growing! Today he was measuring 29 weeks. The doctor said this wouldn’t change our due date, thank goodness! He was weighing in at 2lbs. 12oz, a little ahead of the game. His head is measuring a little ahead of schedule as well, but she said not to worry that he wouldn’t come out with some huge head. She also said he is long and skinny at this point in time and we could expect for him to be close to 8 lbs when he arrives.  (Jesse said tall is good so he can become a pro athlete and support his mom and dad later on!)

Beck was acting a little shy today which definitely hasn’t been a problem in the past. I guess since his Mimi and Pods (my parents) came to sneak a peak he thought he would be on his best behavior. He was head down the entire time with his face facing to my right side. He let us get a profile picture, but he kept shielding his face with his arm. I think we interrupted his nap time. We have found that he loves sticking out his lips and playing with his tongue.  His heartbeat was around 140 bpm.

We were so excited just to be able to see him moving around and looking/sounding healthy! We don’t get another sneak peak until August 30th and then he will arrive in September. Now if we can get him to slow down on his growing so he doesn’t come early or get too huge, his momma will be very pleased (j/k) !

Jesse and I are so blessed to be carrying a healthy baby. We ask for your prayers to keep him on the right track until he is full term.

I will post a belly pic and Beck’s pic as soon as I get a chance! Hope everyone is enjoying the heat:)

Beck’s first visit to Labor and Delivery-26 weeks

Beck’s first visit to Labor and Delivery-26 weeks

Let’s just start by saying that I have had probably one of the easiest pregnancies. I haven’t been sick, just a tad bit uncomfortable. Jesse was traveling for work on Tuesday and Wednesday this past week. I ran errands, cleaned, and ate dinner with my family. Everything was fine. I woke up on Wednesday morning with a terrible stomach ache and serious heartburn. 30 minutes later I was throwing up and the stomach cramps got worse. I couldn’t eat or drink anything. Around lunch, I finally called the doctor to see if I could take something for this stomach virus. Instead of meds….she sent me to labor and delivery. My immediate reaction was ofcourse the day Jesse is in New Mexico! My parents took me to the hospital where I was admitted (that just sounds expensive!). I had a wonderful nurse, Lauren, whom I asked if she could just arrange to deliver my baby. She said of course as long as I showed up during the day on certain days of the week! Chances look slim!

So, they ran some tests to make sure that I was going to deliver in the next 2 weeks. This test came out negative. They also did some blood work and hooked me up to an IV to get some fluids.

To make sure that I wasn’t having contractions, they hooked me up to the belly monitors. One monitored Beck’s heartbeat and the other monitored any contractions I might have been having. Beck did not like the monitors and kept kicking them. I think he was just letting us know he was fine! My parents, despite me not feeling well, were thrilled to hear his heartbeat for the first time.

My doctor came to check on me (again, sounds expensive!) and let me know that if I wanted to stay overnight I could, or as long as  I followed a certain diet for the next couple of days, I could go home.  I opted to go home because Jesse was flying in at 8:30 and I was looking forward to him taking care of me. I am sure when I called him earlier in the day he was freaking out and was also looking forward to coming home.

As we were getting in the car, Jesse called and said that he had missed his flight and couldn’t get home until the next day at 2:00…..seriously!!!!! I was so upset! But…my parents took me to get my stuff and Maddie to spend the night at their house. Mom of course went to get me all the stuff I was supposed to be eating and took care of me! I was relieved to actually be able to sleep that night.

And the final end to the long 2 days…..Catherine and Cal (5 months old) came to my parents house to give me Cal kisses. She brought Jesse and I dinner, flowers, and sport rattles for Beck! It was so nice to see them and get some extra love:) So Jesse is back now and we are doing fine. I am just resting and sticking to a very simple diet with lots of fluids.

Beck had an interesting first visit to Labor and delivery and I believe that he kicked and kicked to let us know that this was only a visit and he did not want to come out yet! Thanks goodness! We are going to visit Dr. Koster, the specialist, on Tuesday to get a look at him.  My doctor said we should see him after an incident like this, and we hadn’t seen him since the first week in May.  We are looking forward to Tuesday! We will post picks next week of Beck at 27 weeks!

25 weeks…

25 weeks…

I really don’t know where the time has gone.  All I know is that 25 weeks is a great week….it is summer! I am so glad to be out of work and can focus on resting and starting the nursery. I have been having a hard time with figuring out how to decorate the nursery, but I am sure it will all come together with time.  I just would like to snap my fingers and it all be done! I am sure every pregnant girl feels the same way:)

Baby Beck is kicking and moving all the time now. I was laying the lake over Memorial Weekend and arched my back in the water and we could see either his arm or leg sticking out above my belly button. Speaking of my belly button, it is officially sticking out there! This is new for me and I hope that after the baby comes it will go back in. I am going this week to have a Glucose test and then we don’t go back to the doctor until June 30th. Jesse and I get more and more exc ited every week. We are planning out last mini-vaca as a family of 2 before the little man comes along. We are enjoying spending a lot of time together right now.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and hot summer week:)

Surprise School Baby Shower

Surprise School Baby Shower

During the last week of school, 24 weeks pregnant, my class surprised me with a baby shower! The moms came in and decorated my room in blue and white streamers. All of the kids were so excited! We were already celebrating Sick Day that day (the kids create a disease and dress up and the teachers are doctors—that is why I am wearing scrubs) and this was a wonderful way to end the day. We had a beautiful cake and bottled water.

The moms involved the class by playing guess the baby food in the jar game. It was hilarious to watch the kids’ faces as they smelled some of the not most appetizing baby food choices. The student with the most correct answers won candy and I got a package of diapers. It as so fun!

The class then presented me with some gifts. The most meaningful gift was a bound book with each child’s picture and their baby advice for me.  Most of the advice consisted of buying a lot of diapers, keeping my child quiet, and making sure he does his homework.  I also received a big basket of all the necessary items.

There are some pictures below of this special day….

Memorial Day Weekend and 24 weeks preggo

Memorial Day Weekend and 24 weeks preggo

This past weekend Jesse and I went to the lake with my parents. The first night my dad’s side of the family came to celebrate my dad’s birthday. The second day my parent’s best friends came down with their kids to hang out. We also got to see my cousin and her husband on Sunday. My cousin Brooke just found out she is also pregnant and is due in January!!  We missed Joe and Ang this weekend, but had a relaxing and busy weekend in the hot sun.

We cooked out, tried to sleep in, and swam in the warm lake. I was thrilled to be swimming for the first time since becoming pregnant. I am really looking forward to swimming all summer. Speaking of summer, I only have 2 1/2 days left of work! I am so ready to get started on my summer project, the nursery. I can’t believe the time is flying by so fast. September will be here before we know it and we will get to meet Baby Lyon!

We are going to our 24 week appt. tomorrow and will give more updates on the little man. My belly is getting bigger so I am sure the little man is too!

Jesse and I hope that everyone is doing well. Have a wonderful first week in June~
