Mother’s Day 2012

Mother’s Day 2012

It all started on Friday at B’s school for ‘Muffins with Mom.’ I am so glad that I was able to sneak away from work to get some time with my little man. He told me ‘Mama’s pretty’….oh melt my heart! He is such a sweet, sweet boy!

On Saturday, I took my mom to get her nails done. It was a nice treat for me too! That night Jesse picked up my favorite, Matt’s El Rancho, and brought it home. I have been sick all week and just felt like being lazy at home.We got B ready for bed and he got sick all over the hardwood floors, right out of nowhere. It was awful and scared him. He seemed to be better this morning, so we ventured out with the family.

We went with my parents to the Arboretum to see all of the glass sculptures, they are AMAZING! We really enjoyed the weather, but were cautious the whole time since B was sick last night. B and I came home and crashed for 3 hours!! I haven’t taken a nap that long since I was prego:) and B usually only sleeps 2 hours. It was nice, but it was also the signal that B really wasn’t feeling well still. We cancelled dinner plans with my grandparents and are now just relaxing.

Even though this weekend has been filled with everyone not feeling well, it was a reminder of how much I love being a mom to B! He makes me laugh all day long. He always knows how to make me smile. He now says, “I luv you mama!” He is such a sweetheart! God has blessed me with the greatest mom; I hope that I can be that great of a mom to Beck.

Now, prayers that we can all be well this week! 3 weeks until summer!

Happy Mother’s Day to our moms and all of of friends that are moms!

Vegas May 2012

Vegas May 2012

Jesse had his annual Vegas work trip this past weekend. He left on Wednesday and I met him Thursday night. Beck and I ended up at Acute Kids on Wednesday night. He had a double ear infection and conjunctivitis in his eyes. I took the next afternoon off to love on him before I left.  My parents insisted that I still go.

I got there just in time Thursday night to make the end of Jesse’s banquet. I was so glad that I got to see Jesse speak and do his thing. It just amazes me to watch him talk in a room of tons of people, and he is still the Jesse all of us know–funny, cracking jokes, and keeping everyone on their toes. It was nice to see some familiar faces and enjoy a cold one after a long day of working and travelling. The original plan was to let him go out with work people late night, while I went up to the room to get some zzzs, but instead I joined in. We rode the roller coaster at New York, New York and then hung out at the Palms. It was very low key–right up my alley-and I actually knew some of the people from Sprint! Friday, we enjoyed breakfast downstairs at the Aria, laid by the pool for a bit, napped, and enjoyed an amazing buffet at our hotel (seriously we had crab legs and lobster!).

Saturday I started feeling bad, but we spent most of the day at the pool people watching. That night we hit up a sushi restaurant at Caesar’s and then it all went downhill from there. I was so sick. We watched the Bellagio fountains as we walked back to the Aria, and finished the night with a few slots.

By Sunday morning, I was really wishing we weren’t travelling home because just wanted to stay in bed. I was, however, looking forward to seeing B! He also had quite the weekend with Mimi and Pods. He made great progress on feeling better over the weekend and returned to school today. I missed school today–now I have the double ear infection and sinus infection. But….the weekend was fun and relaxing!

I love going to Vegas every year with my love. Even though we aren’t the typical Vegas party-ers, we still have such a great time.  Can’t wait until next time!

Boat.

Boat.

Boat. Beck’s new favorite word since his first ride this weekend. When we go to the lake Beck is obcessed with the golf cart, or as he says it “golf car”. He. talks. about. it. all. day. long. But now, I think the boat will be his new favorite. It was a bit chilly this weekend, so we rode in the boat in jeans, but Beck adored it.Thanks Uncle Joe for having a boat for us to ride in:)

Dallas Arboretum

Dallas Arboretum

We recently got a family pass to the Dallas Arboretum per Jesse’s request. I was thinking we would only go once or twice, but what a great place! I can’t believe I had never been there, and we waited this long to go! Beck loves the freedom of running around with no agenda. He gets to dictate when we are there. There aren’t many places you can do that with a 19 month old that loves to run around. We are trying to utilize the pass as much as possible before it gets too hot!  Here a few random shots of our recent fun at the arboretum.

*They are building a new Children’s section and we had to get a shot of Beck by the ‘Beck Construction’ sign.

Fun times, we can’t wait to play some more!

hunting for eggs…

hunting for eggs…

Beck’s school had an Easter egg hunt at his school for each class. Beck wasn’t so much into it, but he enjoyed the snack time after! They had made easter buckets for each student. The eggs were filled with goldfish, Cuties, and crackers. I tried to show Beck there was food in the eggs, but he was not having it. The. kid. just. wants. to. eat. :) We just love his school and the activities they do for our child. We are thankful; it is definitely the next best thing to him staying at home with me.

(Month 17)

Beck…

loves to go in the backyard

loves to play with his cars, drive his cars, read about cars, watch Cars 2

still loves to read his books; he now has 5 or 6 memorized with his own words

loves his school

thinks mom and dad are a jungle gym

loves to tell me “shh” and put up his finger to his mouth when I rock him at night (it is hard not to laugh)

thinks it is fun to pick out a snack in the pantry

loves water and milk (we are still working on him drinking more milk out of the cup)

thinks purple grapes are the most amazing food ever

attached to his blankie (I am going to have to have someone make us a back-up that looks the same)

cooks in his kitchen and brings us the pretend food to try with him

would rather sit on the barstool than the highchair

knows all his animal sounds; even the rooster and snake (doodle-doo and sssssss)

recognizes people in pictures more and more

has mastered going up and down our front walkway steps–phew!

sleeps from 7:30-6:45 and takes 1 nap at school for 2 hours

wears 2T shirts and bottoms now, size 7 shoe

I can’t even begin to remember everything he does. Beck is getting huge! My baby is growing up so fast. I am amazed by all the things he does each day. He thinks the world revolves around him–oh wait, it does!! He fills our days with laughter and joy! He is a special gift and his smile melts your heart. Happy 18 months to B!

We’ve been OUTSIDE!

We’ve been OUTSIDE!

The weather has been incredibly nice the past week or so. Since Beck loves being outside, we have spent the majority of our afternoons and weekends playing in the sun. Beck is mastering the art of running and the ability to climb our front steps outside of our house. He loves riding in the stroller, pushing the stroller, chasing Maddie, picking weeds, eating a snack on the steps out front, blowing bubbles, waving at passerbys, going to the neighbors to play on their slide, and just basking in the sun. Here are some pics of the fun we have had in the 70 degree weather.

Sunshine makes us happy! Have you been outside lately?

Boys Trip-Feb. 2012

Boys Trip-Feb. 2012

Jesse and Beck went to Colorado to visit his parents before they make their move on to Kansas. While the big boys all went snowboarding, Beck got to hang on with his Nanny all weekend. I am sure they are having a blast! This was Beck’s first time on the airplane. I wasn’t there, but was so nervous! I should have known that Beck would do great. They got lucky and had the entire row on the airplane to themselves. Jesse said that Beck didn’t cry at all. He loved watching Rio and Cars 2 on Jesse’s tablet. He also played with his colors and shapes flashcards. First plane ride=SUCCESS!

I am so glad that Jesse and Beck were able to take this mini-vacay. It also left me a little down  time to relax and reenergize! I was able to get all of Beck’s valentines for his friends and teachers done for their party on Tuesday. I also cleaned closets, sold some of B’s clothes to a resale shop, read my book, sat on the couch, and even managed to watch a movie! I am so ready for them to come home, but I think we all had a nice time!

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!
