State Fair of Texas October 2011

State Fair of Texas October 2011

We took Beck to the fair last weekend. He has now been two times. We took him last year and he slept the ENTIRE time. This year he was awake for most of it:) Our first stop was the Bob the Builder exhibit at the Natural Science Musuem. Beck LOVED it! It was the key to his happiness at the fair. Beck was able to play will tractors, build fake walls, use play hammers, and build things with Legos. He was all smiles:) Our next stop was food. Beck tried a Fletcher’s corn dog and loved it. I was out of the crazy fried stuff, but Jesse and my dad did their fair share of eating some intersting things. We were so thankful for the nice weather and Beck seemed to enjoy himself.

After walking around, Beck passed out for the end of our fair trip. Here are some pics of B’s time at the fair….

We had such a great time at the fair this year! I know Beck will have more fun each year as he gets older!

Touch-a-Truck

Touch-a-Truck

Yesterday, we joined the Dotsons at the Touch-a-Truck event. This is where kids come see many different types of trucks/cars–garbage trucks, fire trucks, police car, FedEx truck, limo, old school Ford trucks. Beck and Knox played in all the different trucks and cars. Beck was really only interested in the steering wheels, but it was still fun for him. Knox, on the other hand, was probably a little bit more interested since he can verbalize what we were looking at. Next year, the boys will be running around together and talking about all the trucks! It was a fun event and we enjoyed spending time with the Dotsons.

B is definitely all boy! He loves anything with wheels:)

Beck Kicked off Football Season!

Beck Kicked off Football Season!

A couple of weekends ago, Beck kicked off football season with his 1 year birthday party! All of our family members, I mean everyone special to us made it to celebrate with Beck. It was such a special day for him. Our house was filled to the brim with friends, family from out of town, and some of Beck’s baby friends.

Beck enjoyed crawling around with Cal and Chandler. He even shared his Cozy Coup (this was a big deal). After his cake smashing he got to play with all his cousin baby friends–Reagan and Peyton. All the big kid cousins seemed to have a great time too!

Beck wasn’t so sure about his football cake. He finally dug in, but cried/whined during most of the smashing. He had to be stripped down and put in the sink for a quick bath to get all the chocolate icing off of him. He was a happy camper in the sink!

I am so thankful that so many people were able to share in his big day. I can’t believe he is 1!

What a sweet, sweet boy we have! He is growing up and learning so much, so quickly!

Beck…

*army crawls (he is quick)

*sits up on his knees and looks like a big boy

*pulls up and is pretty close to standing on his own

*has 2 teeth

*wears 12-18 and 18-24 in shorts and 2T in some shirts

*loves anything with wheels

*thinks it is funny to watch us drive now that he faces forward in the carseat

*had his first week stay at Mimi and Pods house

*will still go to just about anyone, sometimes turns to see if mom is still there though

*loves to hug his friends at school

*gives his family BIG hugs and laughs while doing it

*kisses us with his mouth open

*attempting to eat finger foods—doesn’t like textures, so this is making the process a little harder

*loves cheerios, whole wheat waffles, puffs (they sometimes save the day!), chicken, rice, carrots, pizza (pizza Fridays at school), we are working on the fruit-baby food is our main source of fruit and some veggies these days

*drinks water from a sippy cup and we are attempting milk

*sleeps with his blanket and lovie

*loves his “da”-Maddie dog. He follows her around the house.

*lights up our lives with his smile and sweet nature.

I am preparing myself to accept the fact that he is going to be 1 soon! I just love him to pieces. He makes us all feel so loved. I hope that the world continues to make him smile:)

The next 4 weeks…

The next 4 weeks…

The next couple of weeks are going to be craziness! It is officially back to school time. Where did my summer go? Beck and I had so many fun adventures together. I am going to miss him when I return to work. This weekend and the following weekend are filled with Beck’s friends’ 1st birthday parties and a bridal shower for my dear friend, Annie. We are excited! During the week, Beck and I will be having a few more adventures and trying to use our time wisely:) I am also going to be forced into getting some school stuff ready. I return to work full time on August 15th and then, crazy me, am having Beck’s 1st birthday celebration that weekend on the 20th. And to top it all off…kids will be in my classroom on the 22nd. What was I thinking?!? I am so excited to spend the next two weeks with Beck!

I am super excited about his birthday bash! I am trying to make the most of our time together before we both go back to school. Beck loves his school and will continue to be in the same class until he meets some more milestones. Did I mention that I can’t believe I have a one year old?! He is such a love:)

Miami-South Beach

Miami-South Beach

Last week, I joined Jesse on his business trip to Miami. I jumped on the opportunity when he asked if I wanted to go! So many reasons to go….1. the beach 2. 1/2 the trip was paid for 3. mom said she would watch beck 4. some much needed alone time with my hubby.

We stayed at the Eden Roc Renaissance Resort on North Miami Beach. We were 5 minutes from all the South Beach action. The beach, the pools, and the resort were super nice. Jesse worked part of the time we were there, but I just parked myself on a lounge chair looking over the beach with my book and I was in paradise. At night Jesse and I ventured out to Ocean Drive and people watched and ate some wonderful meals. The final night of our getaway we treated ourselves to Joe’s Stone Crab. Yum, yum!

It was nice to spend some time with Jesse and just focus on us. Beck in the mean time was on vacation at Mimi and Pods house. He still went to school during some of thThis e days so my mom could work. He had a blast and got extra spoiled!  We were very excited to see our little man when we returned home!

Jesse doesn’t go to very many desirable locations very often, but I have to say I can’t wait to go back with him.

This trip was just what the doctor ordered, mom is now relaxed and refreshed. I am so lucky to be able to get away every once in awhile. Thanks to my mom and dad for making this possible:)

Much love to Miami!
